RFID based localisation

RFID-based identification systems are common in manufacturing and logistics. In addition to pure identification characteristics such as the presence of a transponder in the detection range of a reader, systems of new generation provide field strength and phase information, which allow conclusions about the position of the tags within the range of a reader. This possibility of a fine-grained localisation of objects opens up a variety of new applications, particularly in the area of logging and optimization of logistic processes. Our RFID-based tracking system allows the determination of the geometrical arrangement of moving RFID tags with knowledge of their motion parameters as well as regular arrangement structure.
